Happy New Year! Well, it’s starting to get real. All of my gear is ready. My hike starts in 1 month & 3 weeks. Even more surreal is that tomorrow is my last day at the bar. I’ll be unemployed starting Monday. It’s been a long time planning. I have all my bills budgeted and covered for all of 2022, I have more than originally planned budgeted for the hike itself and a healthy emergency fund. That’s one stress off my mind. In 1 week & 5 days, I start a shakedown hike/camping on Cumberland Island. I’m excited to get to it.

So here’s the funny thing. We are planning on leaving Florida to buy land and build a house near Portland, Maine, so the joke is, I’m being dropped off in Georgia and I have to “walk home” to Maine. LOL! Guess it will give me extra reason to keep on going.
