Day 77

Written on Jul 9th 2021 at 7:00 AM

Today we woke to a gorgeous sunrise. We got out around 6:30 and started making good progress. The climbs were easy and the views were beautiful. We followed a ridge along some ski resorts. I had service so I called family to pass the time. We bumped into the couple who had driven us to Tahoe. They told me there were 33 earthquakes yesterday and I felt some when I was sitting down on a break.

I felt deflated all morning and like maybe I wanted to go home. After our first break and some caffeine I felt fine and knew I wanted to keep going. The day became extremely hot again and we just kept moving with plans for a water break midday and town later in the afternoon.

We made it to Truckee at like 7 or so. We ended go getting a ride to town fairly quickly after we stopped at the ski lodge. We had burgers in town and camped at the campground where we yelled at people to turn their headlights off since they were shining them directly at us.
