Day 87

Written on Jul 8th 2021 at 7:00 AM

July 8, 2021 PCT mile 1750.5 - 1773.8 PCT miles 23.8

Another lovely day hiking in Oregon. Today is the first day we encountered Spanish Moss growing on the fir and pine trees (much more up trail). Although we are too early in the season to enjoy the berries along the trail we are treated to lovely fragrant flowers every so often. Beautiful!

We entered our first lava field today - know more of this is up ahead also.

We came across a shelter that other PCT hikers who have hiked the Appalachian Trail (AT) have said reminded them of the many shelters along the AT. It was a nice spot for a short break.

Quiet day on the trail. We only met a father and daughter team section hiking Oregon. We found a nice tent site by a cool stream. Only a few mosquitoes bothered us. ?
