Day 72

Today we woke after lots of rain last night. Lots of thunder and lightning and rain. I was dry which was great. I ended up having one of my night terror dreams last night where I yell. Both Arugula and Hot Spring heard it and asked about it.

I woke today feeling healthy and well rested. We left around 8 and started. The landscapes were very different than what we’d seen. Lots of meadows and volcanic peaks and rocks all over. We took a break over 6 miles in then again another 7 miles in for a longer lunch. We took one last break another 9 miles in. I was so beat by then. The climb prior to that seemed never ending. We pushed the final 3.5 miles of the day and stuck together. My feet were total mush. We hadn’t done this many miles since before the Sierra. My arch started to feel tender so I was very careful with it.

Tomorrow we plan to get to Tahoe early afternoon and have a huge buffet of sushi. I can’t wait. It’ll be our first zero since we got back on in Mammoth. It was a hard day but a good day.
