7/1/21 Well the thunderstorms never came last night just a few minutes of light rain. I had the shelter to myself but didn’t sleep well. Initially it was cloudy but then had two Long rain storms that soaked everything. Took rain jacket on and off as well as pad cover. Trail became muddy stream bed and the times were smooth with other times rocky. So a Hiking couple that I hadn’t seen in a long time and they asked where piper was and I told them. They I’ve been staying in hotels and hiking during the day given the weather and rashes associated with the heat. Saw the dog Maple and her owner syrup and I took a picture of them in between rainstorms. A couple of overlooks. Got to the eagles nest Shelter just prior to her getting dark and they were four people already laying down in it and one cooking and they made room for me. Another hiker came in laterAnd we made room for him. Passed the 1200 mile mark on the AT.

7/2/21 Left the shelter in good spirits and it was cloudy but much cooler and didn’t rain. Everything I had was soaked. Got to the pick up point in Port Clinton and called the shuttle driver he was able to pick me up early. Took me to Cabela’s which was huge in Hamburg and got some freeze dried meals and then to the hotel Where I took a shower did laundry and rested. Tomorrow I’ll be picked up and taken back to the trail

7/3/21 Got picked up by shuttle guy Steve who took me to Walmart to resupply and then to Port Clinton PO to resume hiking. Walked along Schuykill River and then under bridge where homeless man lives. Then steady climb of 900 feet to ridge but really not bad as there were nice switch backs and trail generally smooth. Then it started raining heavy at times for maybe 2 hours. Then sun tried to come out and climbed to Pulpit Rock which had nice views. Then trail very rocky 2.2 miles to the Pinnacle which had amazing views (best I have seen in PA). Saw lots of Red Efts and one cottontail. Hiked steadily downhill on a smooth dirt road to the Eckville Shelter off Hawk Mountain Road. Had a bunkhouse which was filled so set my tent across the road in afield where several other tents were already set up. Started raining again after my tent was set up. Saw Maple a sweet dog and her owner Syrup.
