Day 60

June 11, 2021 PCT Mile 1016.2 to 1028

PCT miles today - 11.8

Breakfast in a real restaurant! Chris still full from dinner. Rick ate so much at breakfast (his eggs and bacon rancher meal, Chris’ meal, and a side order of oatmeal, then two soft serves of ice cream- impressive). We packed up, shipped the bear canister home and chatted with other hikers while we waited for shuttle back to trailhead. Rick had his 6th soft serve ice cream while we waited. We checked trail register and only recognized Thor as having passed through a few days before. Wondering if he’s still wearing snake gaiters…

Bounce is such an interesting guy - really enjoyed talking with him. Always smiling.

Shuttle driver didn’t show up (called for backup), so we had a very late start today - about 1:00 PM when we arrived back at pass. Hiked to mile 1028 and set up camp by a lovely stream. Bounce stopped by to chat. He’s going another 8 miles this evening. He also said he’s going off trail at Shasta to hike the Lost Coast Trail and then returning to the PCT. Hope we run into him again.
