Day 25 Mission Creek Camp to Big Bear

Holy crap! Today was totally unplanned, but awesome. Was not planning on doing 27 miles, but it just kind of happened. Woke up with Grade 8 and an older couple. Grade 8, Extra, Smile, and Ana headed out and I left shortly behind them at 6.
It was a beautiful day! I was planning on doing maybe 20 miles and then getting into Big Bear the next day. I passed the private zoo which is no longer and saw the I famous wasteland sign. Was pretty cool! I ended up doing my own thing for lunch and then running into the Canadians around 2. They said Grade 8 and Ana were going to try and get to Kenny’s place that evening. And when I heard that my mind was set. I was toying on going the full send to BB and that was the motivation I needed. It was 2 o clock and they had a ride scheduled for 5:30. So I booked it and made it there just in the nick of time! It was awesome! And broke my personal record. The Canadiansshkrtky followed and use plus some other folks joined us at the Himalayan resto. It was delicious. It was interesting turning up at Kenny’s place and seeing the ginormous Trump 2024 sigh literally painted on his house. Ofcourse I instantly judged but the dude is awesome and so nice! Such a killer good guy. Had an awesome night with new folks and hoping to hike with Grade 8 and Ana and hopefully the Canadians once extra feels better. Anyways was a great day!
Day 26 Big Bear to 276

Woke up at Kenny’s who was making a delicious breakfast for us all. This dude is amazing. He wouldn’t let us help or anything. Still can’t believe this guy opens up his house to hikers like this. The thru hiker who picked us up yesterday is actually staying with him the next 30 days because his doctor told him he’s losing too much weight which is crazy! Hope that doesn’t happen to me. I actually lost ten pounds the first two weeks.
Also side note, we rolled up to Kenny’s and his house has a huge Trump 2024 sign painted on it. I immediately judged from the get go. Kenny is awesome and wish I could have gotten to know him more.
After a delicious breakfast, Giddy took us to town to resupply and go to the post office. Was quick and easy and then we headed back to the house to pack up. We said our goodbyes. Also weighed by pack and it was 15 lb base weight. Good to know because that was the first time I weighed it.
Grade 8, Ana, and Connor and I said bye to everyone and headed back to trail. We decided to try and do 10ish miles which was pretty chill. We separated a bit and I caught up to Grade 8 and Ana at the next water and we decided to push on another 2 miles. Really like these guys so hopefully we will keep hiking together. They want to push 20s which is what I’m trying to do in hopes of getting to Kennedy meadows by June 15ishhhh. We shall see! Also told them if we night hike the LA aqueduct together, we have to get glow sticks.
