Days 27 - 29
Today started cold and early at the KOA. I didn’t sleep very well with the passing trains every hour or the younger kids talking loudly about their majors with each other. Things like that really annoy me. It seems disrespectful to talk super loudly close by to a bunch of people trying to sleep.
Anyway, the climb out wasn’t bad but it felt bad. My body felt tired and my pack felt so heavy. I saw a deer and two coyote which other than lizards is the most wildlife I’ve seen yet on trail. I feel very over the desert and the constant highway and road crossings. I feel like I haven’t had time to disconnect with the constant closeness with town and civilization. I know that time is coming. I hiked on and made it to Agua Dulce where Thin Mint, Boujee, Rocket, and I would have a breakfast. Rocket showed up in her rental car and it was a great reunion and a delicious breakfast.
Boujee and Thin Mint decided to zero with me so we wouldn’t lose each other. We got a hotel in Palmdale and had a great dinner and planned over the weekend for the upcoming weeks. My arches have been bothering me a bit so I bought a foot bath and have been soaking them. I think it’s plantar fasciitis since they feel achey and weak without my arch support in my shoes. I’m a bit nervous that I’ll have trouble with them for a while but also hopeful my time off helped.
Rocket and I did a slack pack sobo on Saturday to help catch miles and I saw so many people I hadn’t in a while. Shit Kicker, Sabrina, Jedi, Lance, Tina Burrita, Heather, and the Germans I saw coming down Jacinto. What a great reunion it was to see them all. It made me feel great to know we will all be around each other.
Tomorrow I hit the trail again and will meet up with Thin Mint and Boujee who plan to wait at the fire station for me.
