Day 32
PCT Mile 583.3 to Mike 609.9 PCT 26.6 miles
We hit the 600 mile marker!
Construction zone (wind farms) hiking and hiking through bark-beetle (?) devastated forests. This entire area seems to be suffering from the effects of wildfires or extensive tree death due to some sort of infestation (low water perhaps). Sad. Saw Stilts at a water cache. He said he wants desert ‘over, over, over!’ We couldn’t agree more.
Landscape improved as we headed north and entered a lovely forested area with boulders and nice views. Decided to head to a campground with what is reported to be a great, strong flowing spring. Wow! It was worth it! Delicious water. Water has taken on an entirely different meaning on this journey. Love it so much and can taste the difference between a spring, creek or cache. Springs win hands down.
There was even a trough for cleaning feet and we found a lovely campsite. Saw watercress growing along the outflow of the trough. Chris ate some and said it was delicious - Rick wasn’t interested.
