Day 31

Written on May 13th 2021 at 7:00 AM

PCT Mile 560.3 (Willow Springs Rd) to Mile 583.3 PCT 23 miles

Trail angel Damien picked us at our hotel at 6:00 AM and drove us back to trailhead (!). Trail angels are amazing but this early in the morning was above and beyond.

Hike out of Tehachapi was nicely graded and easy. Hiked through construction zone (more wind farms) and desert. Rick carried 6 liters of water - first water we encountered was a very slow trickle from spring, but very happy to reach it. While we were there filling up, Jetsetter (Bend, OR), Colors, and Stilts (yoga teacher from New York) came by.

Big news is that Norovirus (stomach flu symptoms) is taking out a lot of hikers. Some requiring airlift. Source could be water caches, springs or ?

We camped at a water source (last photo) hoping we aren’t at ground zero for this virus, but too tired to go on.

Writing this several days later - we have not contracted it yet! All good.
