Day 26

Written on May 8th 2021 at 7:00 AM

Agua Dolce 454.3 to Fire Station #2 478.3 PCT miles - 24

Big news - may have located the pants the pant-less hiker lost.

Left Agua Dolce about 5:30 AM and started the long hike out of town along the road and up, up, up. Cool morning, but Chris was dragging (we think electrolytes needed) and got her first blister. She switched shoes (same brand) at the KOA. Bummer.

Then the blaring heat and 18 more miles with no water!!! This was a dry trail day, so we packed 6-7 liters of water. Hot and exposed! Made our way to another blessed fire station and WATER!!!! Lots of water - fire hose style. Lovely.

Met Tammy (Lucky Charm) and saw a few other people we’d met earlier in the day at the Firehouse. There was much discussion about the road walk that was ahead the following day (Mother’s Day). Everyone decided to hike up to the closure and call a trail angel (10 miles closed) to shuttle us the place where PCT opens. There was a posting on a fence post with trail angel phone numbers. Unfortunately, no cell coverage. A couple of hikers with Garmin units were able to text friends and ask them to arrange rides. We jumped on Lucky Charm’s plans in hope there would be room in the car in the morning.
