Day 46 - a cold day in the Mojave...

Written on Apr 27th 2021 at 7:00 AM

Miles 572.8 to 592.9

Today was another surprisingly cold day in the Mojave... how could we be so lucky with the weather I wondered... a little breezy, but no crazy storms like yesterday expected... I was the first one to leave camp... that was certainly a first... a ways up I met a new hiker, The Dude, who like us had sheltered from the storm cloud in some trees.

It was a beautiful morning to walk... I saw quite a few black tailed deer...and took a long second breakfast break so the Hound could catch up... once he did we set off... and the drizzle started... then even though the air wasn’t that cold... giant snowflakes were falling on us.... melting before they hit the ground ... it was such a weird weather instance... I tried to take video but it didn’t turn out well...:(

Trying to make up for the lost miles yesterday and get to a camp spot at least close to a water source and with shelter from the wind ... was our main goal ...

It was a pretty routine day without much to report....
