PCT miles today - 13.0

Easy 13 miles into Julian this morning. Cacti blooming. Shocks of fluorescent pink at every turn. When we reached scissors crossing (exit to Julian) we found water and orange juice in buckets of ice. Nice! We made our way to the road and got a ride (in the back of a truck) within 5 minutes. Chris’ first time hitchhiking and first time riding in the back of a flatbed truck. All those years telling the kids not to do this! Fun. Arrived in Julian with several other PCT hikers. Saw Fizz and Thaddeus. Rick had two slices of gluten free apple pie with ice cream! Julian is famous for the pies. Place is very busy today (Saturday). We were asked many questions about hiking. Don’t fit the ‘youngster’ stereotype. Headed to a stay at Julian Lodge and an early transport back to trail in the morning.
