Day 9 - back to trail!

77.3 (Scissors Crossing) to mile 88.6

After a great brunch with Charlie - I got dropped back off at the trailhead at noon, complete with a 1lb hoagie from Jack’s and 20oz Diet Coke - and it felt good to be hiking again - the day was a nice combination of sun and shade.

I was carrying a pretty hefty food carry (5 days) and 4 liters of water - still need to figure out the balance between my mileage and needed food - but I could feel the added weight for sure.

I didn’t see a single soul the entire day. I wanted to make it to mile 91 to a water cache - but heard thunder around 5 - so just decided to camp about 3 miles short. I had just gotten my tent up and the sky opened up- my first instance of rain in my tent - and I was glad to see it actually was waterproof - I was really happy to not have to make dinner with the storm and half the sandwich was all I could handle (read- bonus breakfast!)

Overall a good day - lots of desert plants and lizards!
