We arrived on a Saturday and stayed through the evening because they have a “concert” at the mine every Saturday evening! Everyone was incredibly hospitable. The show was amazing, even got leftovers from the bbq for $5. If you don’t mind taking a zero in your tent (free), this is a worth while stop.
The town was currently not accepting hikers at the church as they previously had in the past, however, owners of the Red Moose Cafe and Country Store were incredibly hospitable in that they were allowing hikers to camp in the backyard and provide rooms at a reasonable rate. Also, the Country Store had THE most amazing cheeseburger on trail.
The nicest trail angels beside the church that let us stay in their yard! Lovely river which is super cool to spend the afternoon beside. Taco Tuesday at the restaurant, the owner let us leave our packs in the patio area all day.
The resupply store doesn’t have much. It is expensive and terrible to resupply. He is trying to sell and is not ordering much as he doesn’t want too much stock. Nice man, bad resupply! Send food to the post office in Sierra City.
