Nice town with a good resupply store, cool places to stay. I got easy hitch from the trail and back. Will come back.
Bishop is a great hikerfriendly town and very well suited for resupplying with everything you possibly need. Big recommendation is Schat’s Bakery which has awesome pastries and everything you could wish for to replenish after your first Sierra-stretch. Also some great gear stores to add some winter gear if necessary. California Hostel is very hiker friendly and a great spot to hang out with other hikertrash. All around a great hikertown!
Love this town in a general way but specifically to hikers, I’ve been a hospitality activist for hikers and I’ve been a hiker and resupplied here. Wonderful!
A great trail town, I even hitched from Mammoth back here to stay another night and resupply to avoid expensive hostels!
Everything is reasonably close, and there are plenty of cheap resupply options.
I’d highly recommend the Eastside Guest house and Bivy! Great, brand new rooms, delicious free coffee and a full kitchen with occasional free food!
The only issue I had was hitching in and out of here, it was a bit of a pain to go south but not too bad!
Overall, great town, would stay again!
Great place... one stop shop!!
Bishop is extremely hiker friendly and has everything one needs for resupply, cheap lodging (awesome hostel!!), and great restaurants. The hitch is one of the longest on trail, but I had no issues getting a ride the second I got to the trailhead and know of others that had no issues. The town is gorgeous, warm and sunny, surrounded by snow capped mountains which makes for a beautiful stay :)
