This was a super friendly town. The Ashland’s Commons youth hostel was amazing. The trail angel we encountered was wonderful. She gave us rides from the trail to the trail and even a ride into Medford. Shopping in Ashland was great.
Ashland was the perfect spot to relax and recharge for Oregon and Washington. The Shop’n Kart in town offers a great selection of food for dietary restrictions (especially vegans) and the UPS or Post Office is not far for setting up resupply boxes for Washington. Lots of food and lodging options that are nourishing and comfortable. Highly recommend!
This was absolutely my favorite town on trail so far! It was paradise after California with great places to drink beer along the creek, an excellent quiet hostel and friendly people. Our coffee got bought for us and we were given a free cold-pressed juice and lots of people cheering us on. Love Ashland!
Also the best town for me. The hostel is excellent and clean. Plenty of resupply options. Bus takes you to an REI for outfitting. I got up early to sit an have a coffee and relax during my zero. Three people came up to me and asked if I was a PCT hiker. When I said I was, they cheered me on and gave me money. I actually made enough to pay for the hostel! At the brewpub, random people paid for our beers and appetizers. I'm a 50 year-old hiker with a huge beard. No one buys me drinks at a bar. I cannot say enough about Ashland!
