Day 26

Day 26

aidasinks May 8th, 2025
aidasinks's 2025 PCT Thru-Hike

Wrightwood to little jimmy campground - 12.5 miles

Total - 383.9 mile marker

Last night I cowboy camped on Liz’s deck and it was perfect but I was a lil cold in the morning. We all got ready and she prepared some tea, orange juice and some baked pastries for us before we hit the road. She drove zaye to his road walk while we decided to do the full detour around. She dropped us off at fennel campground and we started truly the worst gravel road walk we have done. My calves tightened up and I just felt slow and the entire 2.5 miles up to the actual trail sucked ass. Once we finally got to the trailhead of where the PCT starts again we saw someone in the distance. It was zaye or trail name known as vanish. He had walk/ran the 6ish miles and still got to the trail head the same time it took to drive to fennel camp and then walk 2.5 miles. Actually insane. Technically the road he walked was closed but it was either risk it or go an extra 21 miles around so he risked it. Partially why he ran it so he wouldn’t get ticketed but he understood the risk. Then it was the slog up Baden Powell which was 42 switchbacks and like 3000 feet of elevation gain in 3 miles or so. It sucked. Plus I had 36 pounds on my back which did not help. Everything in my body was screaming but it definitely could’ve been worse if I didn’t have 350 miles under my belt. We decided to summit as well because the actual pct route was covered in snow towards the top. Fun fact: pacific crest trail really doesn’t crest anything but goes around the crests. After we got our photo shoots in we headed down. Orginally we were going to try and push 22 miles but quickly realized we didn’t want to especially with the elevation gain so we decided on little jimmy campsite. Cruisy miles plus I was listening to music. One direction eats and always will. Got to the campsite and no one was there whatsoever. Three hours later there are at least 40 tents up. We are surrounded. In the morning I don’t care who hears me, imma just pack up. Baden Powell definitely kicked my ass a lil so it was a chill afternoon of laying in the sun and doing the regular chores of setting up, cooking, rolling out. I get in my tent just now and I went to check on my big toe blister that I developed during the rainy McDonald’s day and my toe looks a lil gross so I went to cut of the tape and bitch I fucked up. I left it when I took the shower at Liz’s which was a big mistake as it softened all the skin under the tape so when I went to go take off the tape it ripped so much skin off. Now I have a slab of skin missing on the inside part of my big toe and a flap of skin underneath that bled a little bit. I wrapped it with gauze and taped it with bandaids to air it out but still protect it so hopefully it airs out over night and isn’t a big deal tomorrow but I can see the limp now. Stupid, stupid, stupid. New injury I have to nurse. My lower right back is still hurting but only on the uphills and I think it corresponds to the weight on my back as well. Lower weight no problem but higher weight makes it spasm more which is obvious I know but I’m just trying to keep everyone updated. View wise today tho was incredible. Listening to music and looking out at the mountain and the snow just makes you feel incredibly grateful for everything especially just to be out here experiencing some of the greatest outdoors. Everyone needs to get outside more and dedicate more time exploring nature. But please for the love of god pack out your trash. Anyway, just felt happy to be out here surrounded by my group and looking forward to what is to come even if it’s bad.
