Day 62.. 9.4 miles to Wise Shelter. The bed was incredibly comfy and hard to leave, but we got back on trail in some fog and drizzle. The trail up to Mount Roger’s was hard-very rocky and wet and took a lot of time to pick our way though. We hit 500 miles today-it’s crazy to think how far we have walked. We also got to see the wild ponies of the Grayson Highlands!! I was worried we would miss them because of weather. The sun did come out and we ended up having a really nice afternoon. Dried out well and did have some nice views. Sour patch ended up going past the shelter which resulted in me being terrified he fell into the river and wondering “At what point is it appropriate to call SAR?” But he did realize what happened and came back.
