Day 6

Day 6

aidasinks Apr 18th, 2025
aidasinks's 2025 PCT Thru-Hike

Scissors crossing to montezuma valley road - 24.1 miles

Total: 101.2 miles

Big big big day. Planned to wake up later around 6:30 compared to what we have been waking up at which was 5:20ish. That didn’t pan out as the underpass we were under was getting 40 mph wind gusts all throughout the night allowing no one to sleep. There was even a stick barricade which did absolutely nothing. It felt like someone went to your rent and was shaking it constantly. Brutal. So we woke up and got on the road at 6:15am and started the long haul, planning on going 14 miles to the water cache. The sky was so pretty with rain in the distance creating a rainbow but the wind continued to go in gusts. The entire hike up to the cache was like fighting for your life trying to stay up and not fall down the very steep mountain side. I was by myself for more of the second half of the 14 miles as reroute had hurt her ankle and it was bothering her. I believe a guy name Matt? Idk I can’t remember caught up to us and we were playing leap frog until we decided to do the last two miles together and talked. Once we got to the water cache we met a new German guy and snake eyes so while we ate we got to know them. Reroute caught up to us and you could tell she was feeling down about her ankle so I didn’t want to push her but we had gotten to the water cache at 11:30am. Which is fucking crazy as we did 14 miles before 12pm. I decided that I wanted to push onto the next water cache 10 miles out. So I got to pushin and that shit was tough. Cold, still fucking windy, and my feet were hurting as I trekked on. Also since it was cold I didn’t drink as much water as I probably should have. Again math and I were playing leap frog. The views were amazing tho!!!! The wind again made me feel like a rag doll. The last two miles were so difficult and I kept looking at FarOut the map to see how far out I was. BUT I hit 100 miles which was super exciting. I got to camp and soon Christian, reroute, and Caleb followed. Some guy came up to us and said there was hot dogs in the RV so we went to go eat loaded hot dogs in his RV. Delicious might I say. He was telling us about this family of fucking 7 doing the PCT, who then pulled up to the RV as he was helping them and the oldest of the children were no older than maybe 12. The mom had a LOADED pack and the dad was carrying a baby. Absolute machines. Scotty hadn’t shown up yet around 4:30 and he was still 6 miles out which was also brutal as he missed the trail magic. He just pulled up at 6:45, 2+ hours after we did. The wind is still fucking going so the night is about to be brutal as well. BUT someone in the morning is coming with trail magic in the form of breakfast, warm eggs and breakfast burritos so we are going to take our time in the morning for those. 8 miles ish until the community center tomorrow before I pick up my first mail resupply! Very excited:) thank you mom and dad!!!!
