Hauser creek to cibbets campground - 18 miles Total: 32.6
Started the day bright and early at 5:30 to get on trail at 6 for a big climb out of hauser creek into lake morena thinking we were going to only do 10 miles. The 4.5ish miles went by so quickly as we got to the malt shop at lake morena by 8:30ish. I got an apple and kombucha which was great. Another big dookie was made but they wouldn’t allow you to flinch toilet paper so you had to throw it in the trash. Got my first trail magic aka a bag of weed from a local that grows it and hands it out to pct hikers. After hour and a half ish we Got on the road again for a five mile stretch to boulder oaks campground. Was met with more trail magic in the form of a burger (so good) and chips. Stayed for an hour and a half ish as well before we decided to push on to kitchen creek thinking we were going to camp around there. Brutal climb up in the heat (75°) (felt like 90°) but after I stuck my toes in the water, I felt better. A nice couple told us that 3 miles out there was a campground with running water and put toilets which we decided to push on and do as the campground we had picked would require us to dry camp. Got there pretty quick and there was a ton of people there already camped. So far it’s just me, Teflon, sandstone, and reroute in our campground which is perfect. Reroute and I have been hiking mostly together and then meet up with the others throughout the day during breaks. Met some new people as well including early bird, gabe, Bella, Scotty and Caleb. I keep fucking up peoples names like calling Caleb, Conner despite him telling me his name three times.
Felt pretty good all day which is why we kept pushing. My calves are a lil tight and I have two blisters on the side of my big toe and pinky toe ONLY on my right foot which makes no sense. Also I thought I brought three left socks but I was so delusional this morning that I put one on upside down and didn’t realize it until 15 miles in at kitchen creek. Bonkers honestly. Also! Boulder oaks was 1% of the PCT done. Means nothing but still cool to think about!
You are a badass and we are all living vicariously through you! Proud of you!!!
