Mexico border to hauser creek - 15.4 miles total

Woke up at 5 am, as I couldn’t sleep from all the snorers in the camp. Decided to just get ready, plus I was really nervous even though I’m literally just walking. Took a FAT SHIT. Felt way lighter and then started to pack up to go get pancakes that were provided at CLEEF. Everyone was so nice and we chatted until we went to the terminus and took pictures! I was a dumbass and forgot my poles at Cleef so camille and Emma were so incredibly nice and drove to go get them while I waited. Then I started walking. For the first 4 miles I was alone until the big group of girls caught up and then I kinda stuck to re-route and little peak. Views of the Mexico wall were kinda crazy to look at as it looks like a shitty version of the Great Wall of China. Not that I’ve been but that’s how I imagine it.

Lots of cool flowers and it’s very green despite being in the desert! Water is plentiful despite everyone saying it’s a 20 mile water carry. Met some sweet ladies called sandstone and Teflon. They are what I want to be when I grow up as they have section hikes pretty much all the major trails in the United States and more. Badass ladies. Currently camping with reroute, German girl, sandstone, and Teflon at hauser creek which is where I did my first water resupply. After 15 miles with too much shit on my back, my knees and shoulders HURT. Lots of downhill so it makes sense but tomorrow is supposed to be a 10 mile day to help with that. Plus there’s a lot of uphill. Miss everyone a lot already. What the fuck am I doing, this is insane thinking about it.
