Day 31. 13.3 miles to ice water spring shelter. Holy cow what a day. We got up at 4am to get on trail at 5 to hike in the dark up to Clingmans dome to try to catch sunrise. Made it up in time, saw a few rays and then a cloud came over so we didn’t see anything 😭 But the hiking was beautiful (minus cold and wind. I’m so tired of the wind.) it was frosty and big fir and pine trees and moss everywhere. We stopped at newfound gap which is very popular spot for tourists, Steady had an orange and la croix and a nice lady from Michigan talked to us about thru hiking, took our picture and gave us an AMAZINGGGG brownie. On the way up the last few miles talked to a lot of day hikers who were amazed we were “real hikers” and even took my picture. Made it 13.3 trail miles, but actually walked 14+ today and felt pretty good. We passed the highest peak and 200 miles 🎉
