Day 23. 7.9 miles to the Sassafras Shelter. It was a quick trip from the shelter to the NOC to pick up our resupply box, charge our bricks and get a few snacks for resupply. Having our resupply boxes and food has been awesome, my food tastes better than any of the freeze dried ones we have gotten. And so much cheaper-the ones in outfitters are $10-15 each. After organizing our lives we crossed the Nantahala River and started the climb up and out. It was 7 miles all uphill. Some areas were super steep but luckily there weren’t any areas where we had to use hands like yesterday. Will hung around the campfire with some other hikers. Steady busted butt to catch up to them-got the horrible downhill we had yesterday and the massive uphill all in one.
