I had a successful first night of cowboy camping! I wasn’t cold and didn’t get eaten by any animals. At 5:20 some runners ran by and woke me up but I was planning to get up at 5:30 so it worked out well. And packing up was so easy with no tent. I had a few handfuls of granola and packed up. I got going at 6:21, my earliest start yet. But the uphill was kind of brutal. I was not ready for it so early in the morning. But I did it and 3 miles later took the turn off for Molas Lake Campground. When I arrived I got my box and some Oreos and chips. And I plugged my things in. I spent about 8 hours there. Mostly waiting for things to charge, eating, and packing my bag. At 4 ish some more hikers I knew arrived right as I was leaving. I talked to them for a second then headed out. And I put in another 10 miles. I was super proud of myself for that. I had to wait out a 5 minute hail storm but I saw a rainbow so it was ok. At camp there was a guy who was really interested in all my gear and asked a lot of random questions about it. I didn’t get to bed until 9:30ish which wasn’t good but oh well.
