Today we got the climbing out of the way in the morning and then had a lot of downhill and walked across a Mesa. I’d never walked on a Mesa before. I can’t say it was that eventful but I can add it to the ever growing list of things I’ve done. We got to a trailhead and where people hitch to Lake City and had lunch at the picnic tables. There were a fair amount of other hikers there too. I had a huge lunch and it was super hot. We hiked another 8 miles to a yurt platform but the Vortex was already camped there so we went into the woods where a lot of other hikers were, including some friends we hadn’t seen for a week ish. Hazel hung out with them while I chilled in my tent and ate and had some alone time.
