Day 19

Day 19

Nothing exciting to share for day 19. It was so cold this morning, I couldn’t do my laundry as the water pipes were frozen. The hotel owners were kind enough to put my laundry in their washers used for the bedding and towels after the maids were done with their work. While that was going on, I went the lazy route and ordered lunch thru DoorDash and by then, they had handed back my wet laundry and I went back into the tiny room at the back of the place to put in my quarters and dry my clothes. My right foot this morning didn’t want to hold up my body, it hurt so bad (on the top right of the foot) and there’s a chance I’m going to lose the nail on my pinky toe. It’s an odd color but luckily doesn’t hurt. I’ve been doing all my stretches and rolling my leg muscles using a trekking pole. When my clothes are dry, I’ll head back to the room and probably drop in the bed and not move until morning. Almost everything in this small town is closed for Sunday. Tomorrow, there’s a Kountry Kitchen where I’d like to get breakfast followed by a trip to the outfitter. I’ve broken a few cheapo carabiners and it’s time to buy some proper locking types, especially for hanging my bear bag. I was an idiot and lost a rain mitt in the snow yesterday so I need to replace those. I was so cold I didn’t even feel it drop from my hand while walking and looking at my phone in the other hand. I even turned around and walked about .2 miles back to look for it but it just disappeared. Lesson learned! Anything I take off goes immediately into a zippered pocket. Im getting antsy and not happy how much time I’m spending off trail. That massive bubble of people who waited for March will be catching me soon. Enough zero days. Back on trail on Tuesday and I want to start plowing ahead full steam. Hopefully I can get a break from snowstorms. I want wonderful weather as I head into and out of the Smoky Mountains.
