Today we decided to get a ride back to the captains and head north again, so we got an Uber all the way from Daleville that cost a ton but was split between us three. We got to the Captain’s and we hiked about 12 miles from there to War Spur Shelter. I'm feeling strong and happy again now that I'm back in the woods. Life is good and I feel content. It seems to just take alone time in the woods for that. I do need more time to myself and like Melissa said, I'm losing sight of why I came out here.
While at the captain’s we met a lot of people we considered to be part of the “Busch Light Crew”. They were just lazy partiers who tend to trash the trail and smoke inside shelters. Not at all our type.
When we left The Captain’s, a crazy thunder storm hit and it started pouring and lightning and thundering right above our heads. We actually followed the trail down a road that we thought was the trail instead of crossing the road where we needed to. We stopped at Bailey Gap Shelter and then pushed on and ended up doing a long night hike down to War Spur Shelter. We set up our tents in a private area and cooked dinner before heading to bed. We went down to the water and washed off for a bit too.
