Day Two: Cooper Gap to Lance Creek

Day Two: Cooper Gap to Lance Creek

Forrest Gump's 2015 AT Thru-Hike

Last night, after I prayed for a warm and dry first night on the trail, crazy thunderstorms hit us and I got wet. But I was still so excited to be here that it didn't matter. Part of the issue was that I had left my pack laying on my water bladder and it leaked inside my tent. I also learned from some others that when it rains (or you think it might) surround your tent with leaves and that will help reduce the splatter on the sides of your tent. I'll test this out later.

Overall, today was amazing. We hiked from Cooper Gap to Lance Creek. I stayed close with Dave, and some other people I met, Aaron, and Steve. I'm still really sore from yesterday but much better than last night when I got to camp. We summited 3 mountains and a lot of hills today. It wasn't too bad since we had mostly flat walking. I am having the time of my life right now and it's only day two. It's so surreal to be here.

Tomorrow I'll make it to Neels gap and we can shower and resupply. We'll also summit Blood Mountain which will be the hardest climb yet and will most likely suck. It hasn't quite set in yet that I'm here but everything feels amazing.
