July 15, 2021 PCT mile 1908.1 - 1925.1 PCT miles 17.1
We were dropped off at the PCT trailhead about 9:00 AM so we knew it would be a short day. Hiking was easy; not much elevation gain/loss and no downed trees today. We passed by so many lakes - each a little prettier than the last.
We arrived at Charlton Lake where we met a couple of day hikers - a woman and her grandson with a 1 yr old boxer. We had a nice conversation about hiking (she section-hiked Oregon) and, of course, boxers. The lake is close to dayuse trailheads, so we saw several other day hikers.
We selected a beautiful tent site near the water and Rick went for a swim! His first on the trail so far. Water wasn’t too cold and the mosquitoes were not bothering us.
We saw Chai and Workhorse again and they decided to stop hiking for the day and camp on an adjacent point nearby. Nice couple from Washington who used to own a farm. They had a lot of questions about our tent and we provided another tour. Nice site. Minimal mosquitoes even in the evening. Very nice to be back on trail!
