Want to document and share your hike with friends and family?
Today I woke around 4:30. I got moving and out of camp by 5:10. I climbed our big climb which actually seemed fine. I had a few breaks and was feeling exhausted. My tinnitus was especially bad today. I made it around 11 to a small cabin with a spring that was barely trickling. Some people driving OHVs came in and we asked for food and drinks and they gave us them.
The climb down was long and hot and exhausting. When we made it to Walker Pass Campground we were met with loads of trail magic. I was able to do a resupply of bars to get me to Kennedy Meadows. We met a man named Mark who made us veggies and fruit and I drank lots of cold water and an iced tea. The sun was brutal so a bunch of us hang in the shade. Frank and Bill were there and we hang and chatted with them. I like them a lot and hope we hike with them in the Sierras.
Arugula and I decided to push on 5 more miles. On the climb out I finally had service and called Robin since I hadn’t talked to her in a while. The sunset was beautiful. The sky turned a dull, but beautiful purple. We kept on hiking into the night and I finally saw my first scorpion! I was so excited. Then I saw another and another and probably saw almost 20 on the way to camp. We arrived and the stars were absolutely gorgeous. Tomorrow we’re shooting for another big day. Today we did 25ish.
Thanks! It’ll be even better soon!
Breathtaking scenery!!!
Where have you been since June 10th??? Do you only post your day’s results if I send a joke du jour??
