Day 42

Day 42

Highlander's 2021 AT Thru-Hike

The last few days have been eventful. I left Hot Springs and went to log cabin rd. My wife picked me up from the trail so we could celebrate my birthday an our anniversary. We went to Asheville for the day. Needless to say, I took a zero. I was dropped off on Sunday and slack packed to Round knob Rd. Not easy since Shelley couldn't drive the car the whole way and I had to back track 2miles to get my back pack. Still worth it to slack pack 9.5 miles. Monday and Tuesday were long hikes at 15.7 miles and 13.2 miles. Left Hog back shelter this morning and made it to Whistling Gap. Tomorrow, the goal is 13.2 miles to Erwin, TN

My travel family in the mean time is behind me. They were traveling in a shuttle and were T-boned by a SUV. Everyone is ok, but they took two more zero days. I hope they catch up to me.

Picture is from top of Big Bald part of Cherokee National Forest in TN.

Life is a gift, waste it wisely.

Faceplant out!
