Gooder was sketchy. Able to walk in to resupply grocery and actual outdoor outfitters though, which was nice.
Franklin is great. Decent hostel options, a full resupply, relatively easy time getting in and out at winding stair gap. They've even got a great outfitter with a bar and live music. What more could you want?
Easy hitching! Definitely stay at Baltimore Jack's. Not as clean as Gooder Grove, but more friendly. And they will give you a ride to Walmart to resupply, which is conveniently right next to a lil Caesars and a chinese buffet! If you prefer to walk, there is an Ingles close by. Definitely go to the Lazy Hiker for good beers and good vibes. And don't miss Outdoor 76 if your feet have any needs.
A great town and great Mexican food!
the lazy hiker brewery is where its at.
Awesome hiker friendly town. Outdoor 76 is amazing.
Great town - awesome shuttles into town - super easy. Very walkable with great options for food, drinks, and fun.
Outdoor 76 was a life saver. The advice given without the ulterior motive of selling their stuff was unparalleled. Was given a 4 hour talk on how to plan efficiently to finish the trail. Rob, or the person we refer to as the “foot wizard” gave the best advice I’ve heard so far
