Cute little town. We were told the locals were very town-centric, but we found everyone extremely friendly and helpful. It's a beautiful place to walk around, and it's not too far from Mountain Crossings (which is amazing and absolutely the best people). The restaurants there are awesome, and a great portion for the price. We ate at Copelands and all of us said whatever food we ordered was the best we had ever had (as well as an amazing beer selection). The season's Hotel was great and the people there are awesome.
Stayed at Seasons Inn. Great hiker box and very friendly service. Plenty of people to call for a ride to or from the trail. Small grocery store has some re-supply options but there is more to be desired. Plenty of quaint little restaurants to check out as well. Great town!
The town is the cutest town in the world once you get there. Hitching in to town is easy from Neal Gap and there is a big walmart in town, plus an ingles should you prefer that. As far as lodging, that is a little less present but totally worth getting in to. Check out Hole in the Wall and Cabin Coffee Company.
The guys at mountain crossing gave me and my wife a ride to a Walmart, where they had a good resupply, and we stayed at a very quaint B&B. Hole in the wall was a good meal at a great price as well,
