Got a great start with 17.4 miles. Weather was overcast and high 60s. Started at the Lake Fort Smith welcome center and hiked rocky ups and downs with multiple creek crossings. Ridgeline walking had good views. We ended the day at White Rock Mountain.
Packing up to hit the road and start hiking the Ozark Highlands Trail. Heading east from Lake Fort Smith. Conditions are supposed to be pretty good. Projected highs in the low 70s, projected lows in the mid 30s. There will be a couple days of rain. The leaves are already off the trees, meaning better views, more sun, and softer campsites. We're going to try to hit the trail right at sun-up.
Leaving for Arkansas tomorrow. Hyped!
