Ancient Lakes

We went for a short hike and over night trip to Ancient Lakes near Quincy WA. Only about 3 miles each way.

The hike in is through basalt rock formations with columner formations everywhere. The lakes are pothole type lakes from the glacial floods and the water is non potable even after filtering so we had to bring all we needed. We brought 6 liters, but needed 7!

It got very cold at night, upper 20s but we did fine. Jedha cut her pad and licked it all night long. I put a sock on her foot, but she’d eventually get that off and lick it. Drove me crazy. She was ok to walk out though which I was thankful for. Need to bring bootys just in case.

All in all a good first hike of 2021.
