Day 60

Written on Jun 11th 2025 at 2:55 AM

Bishop to campsite - 8.2 miles

Total - 791.1 miles

All the miles today did not count as it was strictly to get back on trail and that’s why I had no fun today. We woke up and basically did the same thing as yesterday: continental breakfast to Great Basin bakery. We had so much extra food that we created a box to give to Louisa and Klara who were also at the bakery. We caught up with them. Louisa’s ankle has been hurting bc she rolled it just like dad a couple days ago. Hoping she gets better but her plans are now up in the air. Dad’s ankle was feeling good today tho. After we split and conquered the chores. I was on fuel duty and he was shipping back some weight that he didn’t want to carry anymore along with getting salami and cheese for lunches. I ended up buying a new filter as well as mine is so slow now. As I was walking back I passed a dispensary and I turned around to buy a joint for dad and I to enjoy on trail when times get tough. Probably for Father’s Day honestly. I then headed back to the hotel room and rotted and caught up on blogs. We got a later check out time but not the exact time we wanted which was 1. So we had to mosey our way over to where? You guessed it the brewery. We had some more ice cream and waited for our trail angel ride to pick us up from there. She whipped in with a black jeep and two tiny Australian shepherd mutts which loved all the attention I was giving them. Some silly dogs honestly. Got to the trailhead around 2:20 and headed out the steep climb. So much weight on my back going up hill killed my spirits real quick. Luckily the up went by fast. Half way up we ate dads sandwich from the bakery. So good. On the way down I was kinda miserable and in a foul mood so I let dad know so he didn’t cross any lines. Doing off trail miles sucks ass. Not happy about it. Especially since the desert you cross so many towns that are easy access by road so you never have to do off trail miles really. Sierras are different as all towns have off trail miles but that’s what you get when you want pristine wilderness. Got to the scheduled campsite and there was no water so we pushed upwards another mile or so and found some decent sites. Not ideal. It works tho. Cooked dinner real quick. Just wanted to be in bed at this point and it felt like I was force feeding myself once again. We are camping at 11,000 ft with no rain fly. Hoping to see one good stars but praying I won’t be cold. I will be but hopefully not too cold. Other than that it was an okay day. Not my fav.
