Training hike Fayetteville Lake Trail 12.67miles. FEET HURT!
I haven't used liners before but people I know who have swear by them. I do rock Darn Tough's though. They're the only brand of sock I own actually. I have had heel pain before but to be honest I never knew why. I think sometimes it had to do with it being too tight in that region of my shoe but I can't confirm. I switched to Altra's last year and I can never ever go back. The width of the shoe is what I've always dreamed of. Room for my toes to spread out. Not sure that it matters but are you using any insoles?
I have only received one blister(knock on wood) that time I only wore my darn tough socks without liners. I wear Injinji toe sock liners with Darn toughs over them equals no blisters for me. I wear Altra Olympus 4's, they are max cushion with custom orthotics. My biggest problem when done walking for the day is my heels feel bruised. I wish there was some way not bruise them. Any ideas?
I can imagine. One pro tip I was given on my breaks is to always take my shoes off and air out my feet. I kid you not I didn’t get a single blister on the entire AT from that method.
Taking some breaks during these training hikes really help.
You're killing it! I've only been doing 5-10 mile days. Keep it up!
Yes, I have custom insoles.
