Day 5. Mountain Crossing at Neel Gap. 7.3 miles. This is the first major milestone and resupply on the AT. A fair percentage of people drop out here, but we are doing pretty good! We conquered Blood Mountain, the highest in GA along the trail. The descent was treacherous, ended up off trail and bushwhacked a bit, but I (Crystal) got to help another hiker who also got off trail. We had celebratory pizza and candy and got resupply at the outfitter. Hostel has 10 bunks-Will got in early to secure us a spot so we had a super amazing shower and laundry done and a bed and flush toilet! Such luxury!!
