I hiked 26.6 miles today. It seemed like the day went really fast today. It was a easy hike today most of the trail was relatively smooth and not rocky which is super nice. The elevation was much less than previous days also and that’s gonna be the norm until further north. It was beautiful weather today blue sky mostly all day with a nice breeze felt very good. About 20 miles into today there was cool little campground store very close to the trail so I stopped there and got a refrigerated sub, a milkshake, Gatorade, Starbucks coffee, and dill pickles a very nice stop and a good place to rest. I’m in Shenandoah national park right now and it’s kinda weird because I cross over the skyline drive a lot which goes through Shenandoah pretty much right beside the AT the entire time. But that means there’s lots of campground stores or waysides or restaurants close to the trail. I’m kinda liking the new shoes I got there a little bit different in that they’re zero drop shoes which means they have zero lift from heel to toe whereas normal shoes have roughly 8-10mm lift from heel to toe. But they have a lot more ankle support than my last ones which is nice it makes me feel a little bit more confident in my hiking I’m not sure why. I’m hoping they last a good while but we’ll see. I had my first bear sighting today other than the baby bear but yeah I saw it and stopped and the bear looked at me then I started walking again and it took of into the woods so it was all good. Lookin forward to whatever tomorrow holds.
