Kind of a bittersweet morning. An older guy we’ve been leapfrogging along the trail has finally called it quits. His name is Water Strider and he’s a botanist from Illinois and one of the sweeter, kinder guys you’ll meet. He’s short in stature with a small frame. He’s got almost a Mr. Miyagi mustache and hikes like a madman. I guess his knees are finally getting the best of him. As one last kind gesture he gave us a ride all the way across town to the trailhead. We exchanged hugs and instagrams and parted ways.
Today was one of the best days I’ve had on trail. Mentally and physically. I was a little hungover this morning but as soon as my blood got pumping I felt like a million bucks. My spirits were also at an all time high as well. Idk what the difference is today but I wish I could bottle it and have it daily.
A lot of rain on the early part of our hike this morning. It wasn’t cold though so I just let it douse me as I walked. I had my headphones in and couldn’t be happier.
