I woke today later than usual after getting to bed at 11. I slept well but not long enough. We agreed to stay in our tents a bit longer and didn’t leave camp till 8:30am. Sadly we came out of the beautiful forest and into the dry desert. We took a break at the water cache and all our fam showed up and we caught up. For us it was 2 miles and for them it was 12 to get there. We pushed on into the disgustingly hot desert. Today it felt more like a desert than any other time. Remote, hot, dry, extremely hot, extremely dry. It wasn’t fun. I felt constantly like passing out and so did Rugs. We breaked often and drank water but it didn’t help. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt such a hot sun in my life. I was defeated.

We pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and made it just over 17 miles and to the next water cache where we guzzled water, ate dinner, and went to bed. What an exhausting day.
