Awesome Sue and Ken made us a delicious breakfast, gave us food for the trail and dropped us off at the trailhead. It was bittersweet saying bye to them. Still can’t believe that happened.
We started hiking and took a little break at the top of devils slide. Met a gentlemen up there who offered us his place in Big Bear after chatting with him. Like what the hell is happening on this trail? He was a producer in LA and came to Idyllwild for the weekend, where he grew up. We parted ways and made the climb up San Jacinto. Overall beautiful day. Spent most of it hiking alone with random bumps into Tinkle. We ran into Olaf, Lost and Found, Supplies and a few other folks at the last major water source before descending down to the infamous N and Out burger.
I ran into Chris, who had messed up his knee somehow and was debating on how to get out of the woods. He said he was alright and had service and he would figure it out. I felt bad leaving someone injured but he insisted he would be okay. Hopefully he makes it out alright. We all camped randomly about the campground, getting ready for the 15 mile descent. So far the feet are okay! They don’t hurt but still have some pretty gnarly blisters.
